Surgery Completed

Well, it's done. My left knee has been replaced and the surgeon was very pleased. So far, no pain but the nerve block hasn't worn off yet. We'll just have to see how I'm doing to morrow.

Gina Anderson from the church and Diana Patton from Toastmasters came to the hospital to sit with Terry and support her. I am a very luck person to have so many wonderful friends in my life.

One Day and Counting!

Well, tomorrow is the big day. Around 24 hours from now, i'll be prepped for my knee replacement surgery. I know all will be well and the surgeon's hands will be guided by divine intervention.

I am so looking forward to the relief from the pain. I am also happy that I started this process a couple of months ago. If I hadn't, and the the degradation of my left knee, I would have hated to have waited another couple of months.

It's just human nature to be a bit apprehensive about the surgery especially with my A-fib, but I am in good hands.

4 Days and Counting

Well, in a around 4 days, I'll be in my room at Arlington Orthopedic & Spine recovering after my knee replacement. It's been a very tough two weeks. I have had tremendous pain that has been getting worse by the day. I am really looking forward to being pain free, at least in my left knee, the worst of the two.

During my rehab period, I have a lot to do to keep me busy, that's a good thing. My sister, Dian, is going to come over and sit with me so Terry can go to work. I will really have to concentrate on doing my exercises correctly plus being productive during the two weeks I am at home. I hope to return to work on June 19th. We'll just have to see how it goes.

Movie Date

Yesterday Terry and I headed to the "Studio Movie Grill" at the Highlands in Arlington, Texas. We were both rewarding ourselves with a "movie date".

There were only a couple of movies on that we wanted to see and decided to take a chance on seeing "Cabin in the Wood". I had read the reviews and the movie had 4 stars. It was also supposed to be spooky. Terry and I love spooky movies.

We also had Groupon passes for the movie so it was going to be a cheap date afternoon out.

After around 30 minutes in the movie we were just about ready to walk out. This was one of the dumbest movies we've seen in a long time. It wasn't even a good "slasher" movie. We were so glad we didn't pay full price to get into the flick.

Terry and I did of course have a good time just getting out and spending time together. Our special dates are precious time to both of us.

Getting Ready To Start On A New Journey

The clearances from my doctors are in place and the date and time is set. After putting it off for over a decade, and enduring a lot of constant pain, my knee replacement surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

I plan on documenting my journey through this process for all that care to listen and read.

The procedure will be done at Arlington Orthopedic and Spine. I am very pleased with the doctor and the facility. I know I will be in good hands.

The knee replacement won't be done soon enough. Day by day the left knee if get worse and worse. I just hope it holds out until the day of the surgery.

I will write more later about my thoughts.

Bandy's Getting Old

Bandy, our dog, went to the vet today for a skin irritation. He's 13 1/2 years old now and can't even get up in the truck anymore. I have to lift him up. According the the true "dog charts" he's over 100 years old now in true dog years. He walks humped up and drags his right leg. He's not in any pain, his heart wants to play, but his body won't let him do it. Poor puppy, all he does is sleep all day long. We've given him a good life and a wonderful home. He's given us a lot of love in return. Everyone at Dr. Norris' office has watched him grow up from a 3 month old puppy. It's going to be a very sad day when we have to take that "last trip" up to the vet's office. I don't even want to think about it. I know it's a reality that every pet owner has to face, but it's not something I want to ever think about.
